In this factory building, the company has established an integrated I-line production system from the pre-process after the introduction of materials to the mounting of components. In addition to single-sided and double-sided FPCs, the company plans to establish an integrated production system for multilayer FPCs within FY2019.

In Thailand, CMK has been investing in plants and equipment in order to bolster the production of automotive PWBs. Its Thai Plant is mass producing double-sided, through-hole multilayer, and build-up PWBs for automobiles, and plans to meet increased demand for powertrains and travelling safety.

CMK has put in the pipeline about ¥5 billion (US$45.36 million) in two years until March 2020. In FY2018, the company increased production capacity by about 25 percent and began to put in stages the newly installed production equipment to operation at the end of 2018.

Steps up Europe Operations, Too
Nippon Mektron has also heightened its efforts to meet the demand for automotive FPCs in countries in Europe. Its Hungary Plant has two factory buildings and three temporary factory buildings. As the distributed production system is making it difficult to enhance production efficiency and increase production, Nippon Mektron plans to relocate the factory buildings to a 30,000sq.m adjacent lot, and build a new factory building with a building area of 11,600sq.m, the completion is targeted next year.

Upon the completion of the new factory building, the production space of the Hungary Plant will expand to 1.5-fold. The relocation of production is expected to complete in the second half of FY2019.
